GAF MEDIA ACTING ACADEMY

A trauma-informed acting academy built to give working-class and underrepresented voices real access to the film and television industry through hands-on training, creativity, and lived experience.

Classes Include

Acting for Camera

Learn how to deliver authentic performances for film and television while understanding camera angles, continuity, eyelines, emotional truth, and on-set professionalism.

Improvisation

Develop confidence, spontaneity, and emotional connection through improvisation exercises designed to improve listening, reacting, and character development.

Scene Study

Break down powerful scenes from film and television while learning character intention, subtext, emotional beats, and performance techniques.

Script Analysis

Learn how to understand scripts from an actor’s perspective by exploring story structure, motivation, pacing, and dialogue interpretation.

Emotional Recall Techniques

Explore trauma-informed approaches to emotional memory and truthful performance inspired by Stanislavski-based techniques in a safe and supportive environment.

Creating Original Short Films

Collaborate with filmmakers and fellow actors to create original short films, gain on-set experience, and build professional showreel material.

Programme Description

The academy runs in intensive 8-week blocks designed to build confidence, develop performance skills, and provide practical experience both in front of and behind the camera.

Cost: £10 per session

Free places are available for those on benefits.

GARRY FRASER

Writer, Director & Founder of GAF Media

Garry Fraser is a BAFTA-winning Scottish filmmaker known for telling authentic stories from working-class communities.

After overcoming addiction, Garry turned to filmmaking as a form of catharsis. His documentary Everybody’s Child won the BAFTA New Talent Award and established him as one of Scotland’s most distinctive independent voices.

Garry later worked as second unit director on Danny Boyle’s T2 Trainspotting and has since built a catalogue of films through his company GAF Media.
